Involving and liaising with Parents
at Hollyfields Pre-Preparatory School

At Hollyfields we firmly believe that both parents and teachers need to be involved in the child's education in order to maximise their potential. In support of this we are keen to foster an effective home/ school partnership throughout the child's time at school.

For the benefit of all parents we operate an 'open door' policy which enables direct communication with the school either in person, by telephone or via email.

Every Tuesday after school is 'Open Afternoon' when parents are encouraged to visit the classroom, view the children's work and displays, and discuss progress.

There are many areas of school life in which we encourage parents to become involved. This may be by offering time, skills or expertise in a particular area, supporting classroom activities such as listening to the children read and accompanying school outings.

Every parent automatically becomes a member of Friends of Hollyfields and is warmly invited to join us on all occasions. The association organises a programme of social occasions and enjoyable fundraising events, details of which are circulated each term.

Reporting to Parents

All children have their own record of achievement file which they begin in the Reception and continue throughout their time at Hollyfields. This record of achievement contains samples of the childrens work and marks a particular stage of development for each child. These records are available for parents to see at any time.

A brief written report is sent home at the end of the autumn term, an open evening is held in the middle of the spring term and the parents receive a full written report at the end of the summer term.
